The center’s main mission is to conduct research and propose research-based measures to promote community health as well as to conduct educational activities to stimulate research.

Improving the level of public health, environmental health and occupational health, reducing the burden of disease in society, production and promotion of knowledge in the field of health sciences and providing specialized services, helping to create and develop technology in health, training researchers and improving health culture in Iranian society are the main objectives of this research center.

The spirit of the center’s activities is based on institutionalizing empathy, knowledge, training efficient researcher, meritocracy, customer orientation, observing ethical principles in research, maintaining dignity and basic health rights, especially for the needy strata of society.

History

The RCHHS was established in June 2008 based on the certificate of Honorable Deputy of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Health, Iran. Also, the statute of the center was approved by the University of Medical Sciences Development Council in 9 articles and one note in 2008.

After several years of remarkable activity and gaining outstanding scientific points, this center was definitely approved by the Honorable Council for the Development of Iranian Medical Universities in 2013.

The center is consistently recognized as the university’s top center. Three other independent centers have sprung up from the RCHS, including the Non-Communicable Diseases Modeling Research Center, Social Determinants of Health Research Center and Center of Excellence for Occupational Health and Safety Research Center which have gained the principled agreement of the Iranian Health Ministry and are active.

With the establishment of the Research Institute of Health Sciences and Technology, the Health Sciences Research Center is currently operating under the auspices of the Health Science and Technology Research Institute.
