The President of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences announced that Hamadan will host the Health Tourism Summit of the ECO member countries. Dr. Behrouz Karkhanai stated to reporters that Hamadan Province, with its rich historical and cultural background, pristine nature, and advanced medical facilities, is recognized as one of the important destinations for health tourism in the country. He emphasized that the presence of equipped medical centers, specialized physicians, and suitable welfare infrastructure has made this province an ideal choice for attracting health tourists from ECO member countries. The President of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences highlighted that hosting this summit is a valuable opportunity to showcase the medical and therapeutic capabilities of Hamadan Province and our country on an international level. He stated, “We will strive to create an environment for increasing scientific and economic interactions and attracting foreign patients by organizing specialized meetings and introducing existing capacities.” Dr. Karkhanai added that this summit aims to develop joint cooperation in health tourism, exchange knowledge and experiences among ECO member countries, and explore investment opportunities in this field. Regarding the main programs of the summit, he specified that specialized meetings with the presence of health and tourism officials and experts, introduction of investment opportunities in the medical and health tourism sectors, visits to medical and tourism centers in Hamadan Province, and holding side exhibitions with the participation of companies active in medical equipment, digital health, and health tourism are among the programs of this summit. The President of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences stated that holding this summit at Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, in addition to enhancing the province’s position in health tourism, could increase economic and scientific interactions between Iran and ECO member countries. Furthermore, by introducing Iran’s medical and therapeutic capacities, it will create opportunities for attracting foreign patients and increasing foreign currency earnings in this field. He mentioned that this important event is scheduled to take place in Spring 2025 in Hamadan, and Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Hamadan Governorate, the Cultural Heritage Organization, and other institutions, will provide all necessary facilities for the successful organization of this summit.
