 Faculty of Medicine was founded in Hamadan by establishing a health education complex under the name of the University of Bu-Ali Sina in 1972. After establishing the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education in 1986, the faculty of medicine continued to work by integrating a number of educational and therapeutic sections as Hamedan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services. Then, following the establishment of new faculties, including faculty of dentistry, Faculty of Health, Faculty of Paramedicine and Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, some courses were transferred from the faculty of Medicine to these new faculties.

Nowadays this Faculty, is among the first class schools in the country and beside general medicine, it has 9 postgraduate courses (MSc in Clinical Biochemistry, Microbiology, Parasitology, Medical Biotechnology, Anatomy, Physiology, Medical entomology, immunology, health and food safety) and 6 Ph.D. degrees (Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine, Bacteriology, Parasitology, Biotechnology, and Neuroscience).

Also in the field of clinical specialities and fellowship,  this faculty has succeeded in obtaining the license in two fellowships of neonatal and adult intensive care and 18 specialties of pathology, anesthesiology, dermatology, general surgery, neurosurgery, bone and joints surgery, Renal and urinary tracts surgery, internal medicine, radiology, radiotherapy, psychiatry, gynecology, infectious diseases, emergency medicine, cardiology, pediatrics, ENT, and neurological diseases. At the present time, there are 989 students in the general medicine and a total of 196 students at different levels of postgraduate education.

Mission:

Faculty of Medicine is active in the field of education, research and treatment based on the development of health promotion approaches and meeting the needs of the community.

The duty of this faculty is educating and training leading, capable and committed graduates in the field of medicine and basic sciences.

This faculty is committed to providing efficient physicians who are  familiar with regional and national health needs and be able to make the best decision based on the knowledge of the day, according to different circumstances and with professional ethics,

and scientific application of prevention methods at the first, second and third levels in the management of healthcare team.

Vision:

We hope that this faculty will attract elite students and educate them with the help of competent faculty members and new medical education methods, so they can  be able to promote health and act responsively and responsibly in the field of health services.

Goals:

– Quantitative and qualitative promotion of general medical education

– Development of a coherent program of general medical education based on the MOH          regulations and community health needs

– Creating a suitable and dynamic training management system

– Implementation of standardized and modern educational methods in general medical         education

– Applying new methods of general medical education evaluation

– Use and promotion of educational research resources
