Vice chancellor for research and technology is one of the seven vice chancellors of the university which functions under supervision of the UMSHA president. Based on the significant role of research and technology in specifying the country’s principal decisions and comprehensive development, and also the current need and position of the country to produce knowledge and wealth, the Vice Chancellor of Research and Technology of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences was established. In line with the country’s research and technology policies for the advent of capabilities, creativities and discoveries the vice chancellor is determined to make the essential preparations. Furthermore, it provides the necessary basis to increase the quality and quantity levels of the research and technology activities. Finally, it seeks to make appropriate modifications through providing the necessary support for the formal and effective applications of the research results in order to generate wealth. The vice chancellor of research and technology is composed of four managements including the Director of Research Affairs, Director of Health Technology Development, Director of the Medical Informatics and Central Library, and the Director of Journal Development and Coordination Office.

Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology of Hamedan University of Medical Sciences with the continuous efforts and contributions of its’ researches, faculty members, students and technologists intends to advance toward the university’s goals. It also targets to acquire a prominent position in generating knowledge and expanding the production-oriented research culture in the region and in the country. Therefore, the vice chancellor is responsible for the following tasks:

1-Composing the annual research and technological programs and policies of the university

2-Issuing policies, programs, regulations, research and technological guidelines to management of the relevant units

3-Empowering researchers and directors of the research and technology units

4- Expanding and supporting community-based researches by establishing demographic research bases and assessing community needs to improve the public’s lifestyle

5- Support and development for establishing knowledge-based companies, growth centers, patent and intellectual property registration, and building connections with the industry

6- Development of clinical researches by establishment of specialized centers in hospitals

7-Enhancing international cooperation, especially with the abroad Iranian scientists
