Traditional Medicine center & Hamadan Medical Museum (Badi al-Hokama Garden)
The Traditional Medicine center (Badi Al-Hokama Garden) was bought last year by Hamadan University of Medical Sciences and opened as the first traditional medicine project in the western region of the country. This garden has a 2,000-square-meter area in one of the best-weather areas of the city of Hamedan, with its old-fashioned traditional Qajar architecture, which belonged to the ancient physician known as Badi al-Hokama who has lived in this place and was practicing medicine for a long time and was very famous among local people.
The importance of garden conservation by medical university is very valuable for the region because the garden of Badi-Al Hokama is very valuable in the historical aspect, since this mansion and its history dates back to more than one hundred years ago and represents the years of life of the great physician who was practicing medicine for many years.
This garden and its mansion, which is in fact a registered cultural heritage building, were acquired by Hamadan University of Medical Sciences to be saved and protected from destruction and elimination from the history of Hamadan. The mansion has two floors used for a health center of traditional medicine on the ground floor and Museum of Hamedan University of Medical Sciences on the upper floor. The garden is also used for cultural purposes. The old works of medicine and writings of Badi al-Hokama are available and will be exposed in the form of a museum to the tourists.
With this precious action of Hamadan University of Medical sciences the use of medicinal herbs will be more widely used and people will be referred to professionals who are educated in this field, not the one who wants to open the shop and claim to be fluent in traditional medicine.
