The School of Public Health of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences has a relatively long history of educational activity, which began in 1974 with a two year course of School Health worker training at the high school of public Health. After the Cultural Revolution, educational activities continued in the form of a health education institution by adding the environmental health. Since 1985, this institution has been responsible in all health sciences course education in the Hamedan University of Medical Sciences and has trained students in the fields of disease control, health Environment and Public Health.
In the academic year of 1990-91, this institution has offered baccalaureate degree in environmental health and Occupational Health. Following the provision of acceptable educational and research facilities, the Council for the Development of Medical Sciences Universities agreed to convert the institution of Health to the Faculty in 1992. Gradually, the degrees of public health and family health care were added to the faculty. The first course of student baccalaureate education began in the academic year of 1994.
This college continues to develop the education of the graduates and following the approval of the relevant specialized boards, the first master’s degree in occupational health, environmental health engineering, Biostatistics, health education and ergonomics, respectively started in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007. At 2008 by admitting PhD student in Occupational Health and also obtaining permission to admit students of PhD of Biostatistics and master of Epidemiology during the academic year of 2010-11, this faculty was able to fulfill part of his scientific goals.
The Faculty of Public Health of Hamedan University of Medical Sciences has been established to provide efficient and expert human resource training in the country as well as to promote community health by emphasizing the implementation of basic and applied research for problem solving and the development of health science and technology
In order to improve the quality of educational, research and counseling services, the faculty of Health focuses on superior quality as a top priority, systematically increases the ability of faculty and staff to develop creative and incentives people, at work. This faculty makes all maximum efforts to provide scientific, practical and desirable training, in accordance with the needs of the health system of the country for students.
The faculty members considering the human values as a dynamic element, welcomes the participation of faculty, staff, students and the community in decision making and planning.
By 2025, we want to be a specialized, self-sufficient, creative, innovative, knowledge-based, and qualitative faculty to provide the best quality education and research services as a high level faculty in the country.
